Natürlich sind es Eisenspähne, mit denen die Sanduhr gefüllt ist. Durch den Magneten im Holzfuß sammeln sich diese innerhalb von ca. 20 Sekunden zentriert am Boden und ergeben jedes Mal neue Gebilde.
